Official: Uniper follows euro, dollar gas payment rules

BERLIN, Apr 29 (PRIME) -- The rules of payment for Russian gas in the euros and U.S. dollars are in force, and energy company Uniper follows them, a representative for the Germany's Economy Ministry said on Friday.

"It is very clear to us that the rules on payment in the euros and dollars are in force as set forth by the European Commission… We do not know whether Uniper violated that," the official said.

CFO of the company Tiina Tuomela said earlier that the executives thought that the Russian request to pay for gas in rubles did not violate the sanctions against Russia and was an option, but dialogue with German authorities was needed prior to making a decision.
